Bush fires in Australia are burning in unprecedented level
This year’s fire season in New South Wales begun a month earlier and so far fires have burned over 10 million hectares, 4 times more compared to any other wild fire in recent memory and we believe we have not yet reached the mid of the current fire season.
Human suffering and dying wildlife have caught the sympathy of the world and donations have started to pour in. There is a good chance koalas may become endangered species.
There’s been said a lot in news about this and that, but it’s good to remember:
- It’s normal that every year the bush burns in Australia
- Prime Minister Scott Morrison went holidays as did 90% of Australians
- Prime Minister Scott Morrison cut his holiday short when the magnitude of the burns became clear
- 90% of the Australians cut their holiday short when the holiday towns they were staying were told to evacuate due to bush fires
- Prime Minister Scott Morrison is not a fire fighter, he is in charge of the Federal Government
- Ex Prime Minister Tony Abbott (a great bloke btw!) is a volunteer Rural Fire Service fire fighter
- State Governments are responsible to support Rural Fire Service, not Federal Government
- Rural Fire Service is based on volunteering and does not pay salary
- State Government has offered up to $6000 per fire fighter to RFS fire fighters this fire season
- This years unprecedented bush fires may be a result of El Nino effect combined with climate change
So do not become an ignorant chump who politicize every chance they get and share everything you see on Facebook. Do something that benefits everyone for example donate to save Australian wild life or study climate change and become an important part of your society.
